most basic level, VIS is a real-time locating system,
which enables you to quickly locate people and track
assets. VIS allows you to find who and what you need

Simply glance at a monitor. The people and equipment
you need to reach are right at your fingertips. By
identifying locations at the "room level" using
patented infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) technology,
VIS excels where competitors' RF-based systems fall
short.
VIS operates
via a simple network of system components. Small, lightweight
badges are worn by people or attached to equipment.
Ceiling-mounted sensors receive the unique ID codes
and auxiliary data contained in IR and RF signals emitted
by each badge and transfer it to the system. The modular
nature of the sensory network's enables a facility
to begin with a system in one area for a specific desired
application (e.g., staff locating or automatic nurse
registry and call cancellation) and to expand real-time
locating to include other departments or applications
(e.g., ED or asset tracking, etc.) as needed. Through
the wide variety of reports, historical trends, usage
patterns, and benchmarks can be analyzed for future
operational enhancements.
